How to keep a straight edge

I've been making bracelets for 20+ years and only the past 6 months or so have come across this amazing website. I've made so many different patterns I didn't even know existed ๐ the only common problem I can't seem to fix is that when on the edge of a pattern when it's backwards knot, then backwards forward knot, then forward knot. I end up with wavy edges they never seem to be straight like others pictures and videos I have seen. It is driving me crazy can anyone help?

I think I may have found a solution. Straight edge technique. If you look on tutorials you will find some info on there. Essentially your using a hidden string on the edge. Hopefully this will work
