Hello, I'm sorry if this has already been asked. I couldn't find anything related.Has anyone tried the forward/backward knots method with yarn? I want to make the front cover of a journal, but I think the embroidery thread will take a lot of time. Can I use yarn instead? Will it turn out fine? |

It should be fine as long as you don't choose a fussy or fluffy yarn which could make it difficulty to see the knots or become tangled easily (especially if you have to unpick a mistake). A very smooth yarn would be best - you will be able to see the pattern more clearly and the strings will glide smoothly over one another another when you're making knots. I use mercerised cotton yarn and it works perfectly. I'd avoid wool, but any smooth cotton or acrylic yarn should work fine. Hope that helps! 🙂 |

Depends on what yarn you're using. The YarnArt Begonia yarn makes knots that are very similar to those made by embroidery floss. If you have access to it, it works quite well, though you must pay a little more attention to your knot tension. This brand has lots of block colors, as well as a few multicolored and variegated threads. 😊
