Basically, I have this pattern that I spent a long time on and its too wide. I want to shave off one string from each end of the pattern--- which works fine for the right side, but the left side warps everything. Also, I'm using the plus and minus buttons on each side of the pattern. If anyone can school me, that'd be awesome.

Thanks!

Hey! What's the pattern number?? That would probably help to know.

@BobTheCat_ i think it's a pattern that they are working on creating so it doesn't have a pattern number yet

@jrt6488 oh okay, that makes a lot more sense. I'm afraid i'm not very good at making patterns myself so i probably can't help lol 🙃

@BobTheCat_ i'm not either 😂 so i would recommend asking on of the more experienced people on here, like one of the mods, what they think as well.

but i can try to give some general advice. that's probably happening because the extra strings on the left side (that don't have a knot made onto them) don't match up, while the ones on the right do. so just play around with the new pattern and use some of the logic that you used to make the old pattern work.

i hope this helps. I am definitely NOT an expert and have only made a couple patterns myself, but that's how i would do it 👍

@BobTheCat_ @jrt6488, thanks for the advice! I'm making a small hornet pattern, like #123492 but smaller and more manageable for my skill level. I've figured out a loophole to prevent the skewing in which I add a row without any knots and center the design.

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to fit her eyes onto her mask on this loophole version, so I'll probably stick to my original...still! thanks for the quick help!

You can't do it in the interactive generator because in the interactive generator you can only remove even amounts of string on the left.

You need to manually do it on the first page of the generator:
- cut the first row and copy it as the last row
- change the string order to what it was for your original second row without the first string
- now remove the first knot from all even rows (the rows that were original the odd rows)

Once you are done, click "save"
