Good question @imastudent. Cross stitching is a little like embroidery but is when you make little Xs on fabric in a row with your thread. It’s sometimes done on an embroidery hoop. Sorry, I don’t how helpful this is.

This is what I do! It's a bit hard to fully explain, but it's similar to embroidery and bracelet making.

Instead of having lines or knots it's little X's or crosses on fabric, called aida fabric. It's made so that fabric has a grid of holes between the fibers. You use a embroidery hoop to hold the fabric taut. There can be different types of fabric so that the crosses/x's are larger or smaller. You use embroidery floss, which is made of 6 strands of normal sewing thread. You can make the crosses thicker or thinner by removing strands of floss. Usually one x (or cross) is one pixel.

This video also goes over how to do it and goes into better detail than me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcLYfDJnNoU

Feel free to ask any more questions,😊
