Do I have to weave the strings for flat alpha technique

I’ve made a few alphas so far, some I cut some I weave around the back with a toothpick. Sometimes the strings do move if cut, is there a reason for that? How can I fix it?

Most people just cut their strings in the end without any extra method of securing the strings when using the flat alpha technique.

When I cut the ends of string for an alpha some of the strings became a bit loose so I tucked the tails into the back.
