You can only make patterns and variations on the site, not the app. Go to the top menu bar and there is a drop down option on your profile photo 'Create pattern'. That will take you to the page to make normal and alpha patterns. |

Go to the pattern's page and in the top right part of the page is 'Add a photo'.
