hello ! i am new to alphas and found that even when i make beginner friendly patterns they appear kind of lumpy/misshapen.in smaller bracelets, it is not that noticeable and the design is still recognizable, and i thought that making a bigger bracelet would make it even less noticeable. however, this is not the case- i did my first wider alpha bracelet and the design is not recognizable so i had to discard. i don’t know if it’s because this was my first time that the base strings were the same color as the background color and i got confused and accidentally switched the leading string and a base string (btw does anyone have any tips on how to prevent that?), but after doing color switches, my bracelets start to get bumpy, the taped down bracelet no longer lies flat, and the base strings are all at different heights. i am using strings all from the same brand so i dont believe it is a thickness problem. any suggestions for what i can do ? tia ! |

Are you doing the flat alpha technique? If not, I can really recommend it. Part of the issue might be pulling the loose leading strings in the back too tight. I recommend keeping them loose or cutting them in the end. |

@halokiwi yes, i was using the flat alpha technique, but i believe i was doing it incorrectly. i just rewatched the video i learned it from and found out that i wasn't placing the previous leading string in the correct spot during color switches and i was tucking them behind the wrong side as well. hopefully now that i've rewatched the video and learned correctly, that will fix my issue. thank you !!
