what do the little arrows on the pattern mean im so confused

They represent the different knot types- arrow to the right: forward knot - arrow to the left: backward knot - curved arrow to the right then to the left: forward backward knot - curved arrow to the left then to the right: backward forward knot I recommend watching a video on how to read patterns. Explaining this just in text might be a bit difficult. |
