is there a way to avoid getting all my colors tangled/overlapped at the back of my project when switching colors? i do my best but sometimes it gets hard to stretch the strings over a big lump of strings on the back and make a neat knot with no gaps etc. thanks!

I don’t think so because that’s just how alphas are but you could cuts the strings after each colour change and when you do another one add the string back in then cut it when your done.

It's difficult especially with lots of colours but I recommend trying to find a system how you put the unused strings away. I always put them to the top and try not to cross them with others.

yeah I tend to put leading strings in a line to not confuse me, so what I will tend to do is put the most unused strings higher up my bracelet, or just cut it off and tie it in later when I don't need it. hope this helps! ❤️

i knot on a clipboard and i have two binder clips clipped on the top, one on each side of the bracelet, and when i need to put a string away i tuck it into the binder clip to stay out of the way until i need it again. sometimes i use two knotting strings of the same color to avoid carrying a string too far across the bracelet. hope that helps at all !!
