Hi,

Why do my threads always break when I do a bracelet? Is there something that I do wrong? Is there something that I'm not doing that I should do? Is there a brand of threads that tend to not break? Thanks a lot.

hello!

this could be because you're doing your knots extremely tight, or that you don't have very good thread. Try loosening up your knots and not be so rough when making your bracelets, or buy some better quality products. I find that any sort of embroidery floss does really well no matter what!!! DMC is on the expensive side but it's still pretty good so maybe you can try that out and see how you like it.

This could be for one of two reasons:
A) your knots are in credibly tight and/or you are pulling on the thread tightly
B) the thread you are using is very low quality
If option A is the case, I would recommend working on tension. Also remember that the first half of the knot needs to be tight or the entire knot will be loose. I also recommend working on tension of knots so you can find whatever works best for you.
If option b is the case, I would recommend getting embroidery floss if you are not already. It sounds like craft cord will not suit your knotting technique so I would recommend staying away from it. DMC thread is not
Necessary though, I find it way too expensive for my needs and I have some better quality thread that was less expensive.
In summary, it’s really all personal preference and knotting technique. Good luck!

In addition to what everyone else is saying, Masha Knots on youtube has a really good tutorial about how to fix broken/snapped strings in your bracelets if you have one that snaps in the middle 🙂

you could either be doing your knots way too tight, or it could just be the type of string you have.

if threads are constantly breaking in your bracelet, it’s either because you’re making your knots too tight, which can be fixed by loosening your knots, or because your string isn’t very good quality. i use a thin crochet thread with normal embroidery string, and even though the embroidery thread isn’t super good quality, my crochet thread usually is the one that breaks. personally, i know my problem is being to rough with the strings, like pulling too hard on them and tying really right knots. good luck !!
