@emmamson this is an alpha pattern. To make a knot of a new colour, you need to make a colour switch to a leading string of a new colour. I recommend checking out MashaKnots' YouTube video on the flat alpha technique to see how a colour switch is done.
(I also want to say that I'm really impressed that your account is already 11 years old. I'm sure, lots has changed in the bracelet community since then, but lots is probably also still the same, after all it's friendship bracelets.)
