I used about 11 inches for the base string which looks like a lot but the actual bracelet part took up about 4 and a half inches. I did twisted ties on both ends and both ended up being just a little over 2 inches when they were finished. But it depends how tight u do the twisted ties, it might end up longer or shorter.
