@Varda_Elen Another suggestion is that, if you use 6-Strand Embroidery floss, (meaning, each string can separate into 6 individual threads) such as with DMC 6-strand cotton floss, you can separate the strings into 3 or so instead, and that will make the bracelet less long 🙂 (less wide though as well). Tying a modified or cropped bracelet is also a good way to shorten it like @virgoasf said 🙂
@Varda_Elen definitely too long for a bracelet - it wraps around my wrist 2.5 times. I'd love a bracelet version as well! You could cut off the pattern and make the middle third to make it smaller but it might look incomplete without the full spirals etc.
@pe4ce I made 4 bookmarks and then knew quite well how much string to use. I made a comment but it got to the bottom of the pile of comments. Anyway, this is what I used:
I made mine with triangle starts and ends in yellow. I could use 2M for almost all the strings, except three. For the original design, I used 3M for white, 2,60M for the grey string in the middle, and 2,40M for the purple string in the middle. But that was just enough, I knot a bit tight, if you knot relatively loose, I'd recommend using 10CM more for everything except for the yellow. My left over yellow strings were always quite long.
Helloo, I love this pattern so much and now I want to try to do it too! Just a question, I would like to make a bracelet out of it, and not a bookmark, so, is 180 rows too long? Has anybody did it before with this purpose? Do you have any suggestion? Thank you! ❤️
If you do the single start, like in @natalienat’s photo, but start instead at the bottom of the pattern, row #169, it actually sets up the strings to perfectly start on row 1. That’s what I did, I’ll post mine when I’m done! I’m making a bookmark so length doesn’t matter as much.
@shikisoku thank your for your kind words 🙂glad my experiment was of help to someone 😄 😄 and yours looks really nice too, I like the palette of colours you used, very harmonious 😍
@servetej Thank you for this comment, it was super useful! I love the detail about your experiment, and the photo of the four of them together is 😍 😍 😍
So I made four and I experimented a bit with how much you need of every string.
I'm so in love with this pattern ❤️❤️❤️ , I've made 3 already, and am making a fourth one (I want to gift them to family), and I've experimented with a couple of designs. Different colour combinations make different cool things. I'll post a picture later when they're all done, they look so beautiful. I use the one I'm keeping for myself as a bookmark, not a bracelet, it makes reading a fun thing.
@jennypenny The length of the bracelet can vary depending on which yarn you use and how tightly you tie. For me, the whole pattern with 180 rows was about 18 cm long, and I knit quite tightly. I think the center of the pattern is on row 85, so if you start on row 1, the bracelet will be completely symmetrical with 170 (85+85) rows. If 170 rows are too long, it should be possible to start later in the pattern, for example on row 5, then the bracelet can be symmetrical with 160 rows. 🙂
